Walking Tour Brochure

For my Digital Communications course, I designed a user-centric walking tour brochure of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in InDesign.

The Task

I was prompted to create a walking tour brochure of a location of my choosing in InDesign.

The Design

I was inspired by the location of my summer 2019 internship: Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I aimed to depict a contrast in Brooklyn’s industrial past and its current trendy, modern identity. These contrasts are evident in the angular, bright red shapes and the black and white image of the Williamsburg Bridge, for example.

I prioritized the usability of my design. In order to do so, I created simple paper prototypes to visualize the brochure’s design. In my final pocket-sized design, the map of the walking path is always accessible regardless of the user’s place in the brochure’s content. This eliminates the common challenge of constantly flipping large brochures back and forth.
