This painting was a rendition of a previous artist’s work. I was required to recreate the piece as accurately as possible in terms of composition, colors, and technique. I paid close attention to the soft lighting depicted in the original piece. The painting ended up being selected as the cover photo of the Montclair Art Museum’s summer camp pamphlet.
This project challenged me to match tones and colors with colored pencil techniques on a small scale (3″ x 3″).
These hand thrown clay pieces were applied either a colored glaze or a raku glaze. A raku glaze requires a low-fire method in which the piece is quickly heated, removed from the kiln, and applied a post-firing process.
This piece required a great deal of attention to detail and proportion. I focused on contrasting darks and lights, as well as creating depth and perspective.
